Fillet Away Fish Mats are made of A high quality TPV material that does not absorb oil. The rows of pegs hold the fish securely in place while it is being cleaned. The result is a fillet mat that works to your advantage and is also easy to use and clean. No more stinky slippery fillet mats.

How to Use
Lay the Fillet Away FISH MAT on any flat surface, for example a cooler, picnic table, dock or cleaning station counter. Apply a small amount of pressure with the fish against the mat so the pegs can "grab" the fish. After filleting, hold the mat by the handle and swish in the water or spray off with a hose. 

NOTE: Fillet Away FISH MATS are very durable & are guide-tested with hundreds of fish filleted on one mat, but please keep in mind that they are made of a soft rubber that will cut & are not intended to be used directly as a cutting board.

​Fillet Away Fish Mats started on a guided fishing trip on the Columbia River in July of 2015. Watching the guide fillet our fish (about 40 walleye) and then attempt to clean the AstroTurf mat left me thinking that there had to be a better solution.

I had 3 goals in mind when I started developing the fillet mat. First, it had to "grip" the fish to keep it from sliding around. Second, it had to clean quickly and easily. Third, it had to be made in the USA.

Before long, a mold was built and testing began. With input from several guides in the Tri-Cities, Washington Area, the mold was changed a number of times to achieve a mat that really held the fish well. 

The mat does not have an interwoven or porous surface, which allows for easy cleaning, but we also focused specifically on the material that it was molded with. Fillet Away Fish Mats are molded from TPV, a material that does not absorb oil. The oil washes away when you rinse the mat.

Fillet Away Fish Mats are proudly made in the USA in Post Falls, Idaho. Producing them in the US does add to the cost, but going back to my original goals, I intend to keep it that way.
